Dirt on My Shirt By Comedian Jeff Foxworthy
While many people know Jeff Foxworthy from the hit television show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, he is also the largest-selling comedy-recording artist in history, a multiple Grammy® Award nominee, and bestselling author of more than twenty-three books, including the New York Times bestselling Dirt on My Shirt.
Dirt on My Shirt is a hilarious collection of poems that Foxworthy uses to create a neighborhood filled with fun, family, friends, and more.
From the thrill of flying to the imaginary planet Woosocket to bonding with a friend over a shared hatred of spinach, these poems capture the very essence of being a kid.
In this book you’ll meet Uncle Ed, Cousin Lizzy, and Aunt Foo Foo, cows with horns that don’t go beep, dads in sweaters, also sheep. Filled with sly humor and always affectionate, Dirt on My Shirt is sure to delight kids, big and little, everywhere.
What else does Foxworthy do when he’s not writing books and starring on hit TV shows? You can also catch Jeff Foxworthy on his syndicated weekly radio show, The Foxworthy Countdown which is carried in more than 220 markets across the United States.
Author, comedian, television star and more…It’s no wonder that Jeff Foxworthy is one of the most respected and successful comedians in the country.

It’s a collection of poems for kids. Not classic Foxworthy stuff
I was hoping that this book would bring more chuckles than it does. Coming from Jeff Foxworthy one would have that expectation.

Not typical ‘Foxworthy’ but still creative genius!
If you’re expecting to read the “typical” Foxworthy book you’re going to be disappointed with “Dirt on my Shirt.

Dirt on My Shirt
A wonderful child’s book!!!! I didn’t know Jeff had it in him!!!! As much fun to read as it is to watch the children’s faces you read it to.
This book is everything you need in a childrens book. It’s silly, funny, and the poems are not too long. Really great for children and adults.
This kids’ poetry book is worth buying for the fluid illustrations, but the poems are a bit uninspired. One called “Sharing a Bed” reads: “Sharing a bed with your cousins, Is not the easiest thing, They toss and they turn, They giggle and snore, And sometimes, They just like to sing.”
Nothing wrong with that, but it’s no Dr. Seuss or Shel Silverstein.
But back to the art. Every page has a colorful pen-and-ink over watercolor that tells a story. A double-spread painting for “What Do You See?” includes a list of 33 things to search for. Another of “Uncle Keith” eating corn on the cob has him munching so fast he’s a blur.
For more creative wordplay, check out Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends as well as that late author’s “new” title Don’t Bump the Glump!.
Also great: Most any of the Skippyjon Jones titles or these Seuss classics:

Cute!
This is a very cute book, my son really enjoys having the stories read to him. Although, I was under the impression that it was a story about a little boy, but its acutally a…
My kids are still small, and I’ve wanted to introduce them more to rhyme and poetry. But I feel that most kids’ poetry books are somehow over their heads, or they’re just not big enough yet. My big girl is 7. I happened to run into this one today, and WOW, I thought the subject matter had such kid appeal, really sweet and kind, light, funny stuff (and not disgusting either!). So kudos to Jeff Foxworthy, hat’s off to you, I didn’t know you had this in you too. Illustrations great too. Hope you do some more!
