Eddie Izzard – Circle (Stand-up Comedy DVD)
It could be said that Eddie Izzard is one of those rare comedians who has the ability to produce and deliver intelligent high impact stand-up comedy material without talking down to an audience.
Few comedians can compare with Izzard, who can spin comic gold out of papal history, monkeys with guns, Jesus preaching to the dinosaurs, and cafeteria food on the Death Star.
Circle (DVD) is taken from his stand-up tour in 2000 and doesn’t have the astonishingly seamless free-associative flow of Glorious or Dress to Kill, his previous specials–which is to say, he’s only intermittently brilliant, instead of supernaturally nonstop brilliant.
We’ll take what we can get, because Izzard can slip in surprisingly stinging commentary about international politics and religion, yet his impish smile suggests that he’s only pointing out the obvious.
Izzard quickly tosses out an idea and then plays with it like a cat plays with a mouse, flipping it around, teasing it out, pouncing, and then letting it go, only to sneak back up on it just when you’d forgetten it was there.

Please note that Eddie Izzard is one of the comedians featured in the Killer Stand-up Comedy System as a stellar example of the more new, more converstational style of stand-up comedy as opposed to the old school “set-up/punchline” sort of approach.

The Best Eddie Izzard
Edddie Izzard is not for everyone. I happen to find his humor irresistible, but my wife hates it. So give him a try, and you might like.

Eddie Izzard Circle
Eddie Izzard is an amazing talent. He is smart and hysterically funny. Although I enjoyed his “Dress to Kill” stand-up to “Circle” I assure you that “Circle” is full of laughs.

Eddie is genius.
I am a big big fan of Eddie and have all of his dvd’s and cd’s. This is pretty good, not as funny as D2K or Definite Article. But it would be my third favorite.

Extremely Funny

Not up to Izzard standards
We are huge Eddie Izzard fans, have all his cd’s and dvd’s of concerts, have seen him live twice, love The Riches, but….. This dvd concert is not up to his usual genius.

Eddie Izzard – Circle
Hilarious. Eddie Izzard is a very clever, intelligent comedian. Not a lot of cursing.
Eddie is amazing…he’s so quick, and his bits are so…weird! But deliciously so! And he’s even a helluvan actor…check him out in “Across the Universe”, or more recently, “Valkyrie”.
Eddie Izzard is awesome.
strangely enough this was on TV here in the UK a couple of days ago and I caught some of it.
My favourite line is how he points out how America seems to win the baseball world series every year hahaha
