Richard Pryor: Stand-Up Comedy Double Feature (1983)
Studio: Sony Pictures Home Ent Release Date: 05/24/2005 Run time: 176 minutes
This double-hitter features legendary comedian Richard Pryor in his prime. HERE AND NOW shows the controversial funnyman in a 1983 live performance shot at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans.
LIVE ON SUNSET STRIP features two performances at the Hollywood Palladium, where he delivers characteristic material addressing racism and the differences between blacks and whites, as well as discussing the accident that almost cost him his life.
One of the sharpest standup comics ever to grace the stage, Pryor garnered the admiration of his peers and became an idol to all comics who came after him. The reason is on display in these classic performances, in which he commands the stage with his trademark blend of satirical humor and hilarious tales of sex, drugs, and politics.

Pryor shows his true genius onstage
The Toy. Superman III. Critical Condition. Forget Richard Pryor’s occasionally shaky film work; stand-up comedy is where he truly belongs.

2 Richard Pryor stand-up shows on 1 DVD-if you love Richard, you’ll love this!!!
Hey Steve,
I’ve got this on VHS. one of my most prized possessions. The man was a genius. He lived a thousand lifetimes and paved the way for us all, whether you liked what he did or not. Whether you tell stories and do routines or if you just string together jokes.
That’s why I included him on my list of the 33 most influential comedians of all time: prohumorist.com/?p=71 It’s a controversial list for some.
Cheers
