Are there people who want to become comedians and speaking professionals but fear that they are too shy or can’t overcome the fear of public speaking? I strongly suspect that there are.

Even though statisticians report that more than 37 million Americans suffer from diagnosable social phobia, common sense suggests that nearly all of us have, at one time or another, had clammy palms and knocking knees because of an intimidating, uncomfortable social situation.

The party where you don’t know a single soul, the crowded lobby of a movie theater, the presentation you’ve been dreading for weeks? Any of these have the potential to ruin your week without necessarily sending you to the psychiatrist’s couch.

The ten simple exercises provided in this book help readers shed their shyness and start socializing with confidence. The book examines shyness by symptoms: physical discomfort, anxious thoughts, and bothersome behaviors. Solutions based in clinically proven cognitive behavioral therapy follow, directly addressing all three shyness symptoms.

Readers can carry the book in a briefcase or purse for last minute support and extra confidence. Once you have embraced the ten simple solutions, you will quickly find that (more…)

Sinbad: Where U Been?

Sinbad: Where U Been?If you love comedian Sinbad, here are some brief comments about his DVD “Where You Been”:

“I was very glad to be able to view this show as my wife and I and another couple were to go to the show in Joliet for our and their anniversary. The tickets were forty dollars each plus gas and hotel accommodations Walmart save us a bundle and we can enjoy the show anytime now!”

“It was hilarious and I loved watching it. I would recommend this to anyone who either likes Sinbad or wants a good laugh.”

“I love this dvd by Sinbad. He said things we want to do and say to our grown kids.”

Thirteen years after his last stand-up performance, prolific comic Sinbad takes the stage of the Club Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, California to do what he does best – keep an audience in stitches.

It’s a whole different world than it was the last time Sinbad performed, and in addition to filling his fans in on what he’s been up to over the past decade, he also takes time to poke some fun at the president, comment on the state of the economy, and reflect on his relationship status.

Sinbad gives an illuminating lesson on how women can get what they want from men, and bemoans the fact that men lie about little things, “stupid things.” He further explains that “men are simple,” and one must clearly and precisely communicate with them.

One woman in the audience called out “snoring” as a problem to be addressed and Sinbad asked, “Did he snore when you met him?” She hollered back, “No,” to which he replied “Well you sucked the life out of him… he’s got no air.” His timing is impeccable; watching him perform is watching a master of the art.

It’s wonderful to be young, but Sinbad embraces age — both its positives and its negatives.

He explains why older men shouldn’t go out with 20-year-old women (women over 50 recognize signs of a stroke) and describes the problems that come with progressive lenses.

This is not a show targeted at the elderly; Sinbad covers all the ages of man.
