One of the things I have been thinking about lately is about how to appraoch putting together your stand-up comedy resume. In others words, getting your resume down on paper (or in an Adobe PDF file) for online downloading.
If you are performing at every opportunity, your comedy resume will grow pretty quickly.
But there are a few things you might want to consider as you are building your comedy resume.

One of the most critical elements needed by ANY entertainer, performing group or speaking professional is not only exposure, but credibility—proof that you are who you say you are and that you do what you say that you do.
A very important piece of your credibility is tied directly into your ability to be easily found online when someone searches for your real or stage name. That’s why the term “Google me” has become so significant.

One of the things that is important to many comedians is to record their first stand-up comedy CD.
Well, you don’t need an hour long act to do that. As a matter of fact, I recommend that anyone with 20+ solid minutes of comedy material record their act for sales after shows and on their website.
Getting a high quality audio recording is usually far easier than getting a high quality video recording.

If I had access to the tools and knowledge that I know now for building an online fan club and fan based subscriber list when I started my comedy career, I could possibly have tens of thousands of fan based subscribers by now and a significant additional income base—outside any performing income.
But I think that it is important that anyone who wants to build a fan club or a fan based subscriber list needs to understand a few basic concepts first. Otherwise, you can waste your time just spinning your wheels.

I just saw an article on CNN and the second line of the article says it all:
To succeed in the industry these days, you don’t just need to be good on stage and screen. You also have to nail the art of sending out mini-messages to Twitter “followers.”
Whether that is actually 100% true or not is yet to be seen. But the real story is one I have been talking about for years…
