Using Comedy Evaluator Pro Correctly For Performance Improvement

cepI want to talk about a Killer Stand-up Comedy System user named Roger who recently started using Comedy Evaluator Pro to help him improve his stand-up comedy performances.

Well, guess what?

His initial PAR Score was 15.  Well, by using Comedy Evaluator Pro to evaluate his stand-up comedy act, in just 2 performances…

He has managed to increase his PAR Score by 25% (it’s now at 20).

In other words…

He got 25% “funnier” — in 2 performances. That’s pretty darn incredible if you ask me — provided the software was being used properly.

So, I want to caution anyone using my Comedy Evaluator Pro software to evaluate your own act because… Read more »

Does Comedy Central Like Comedians With Email Lists?

comedy-centralI know there are some super talented comedians who frequent this blog. And I’m here to tell you that…

If one of your goals is to get a spot on Comedy Central, VH1 or any other TV network that showcases comedians, you need a sizable subscriber list of fans.

And if you think your MySpace or Facebook page is enough, I will be the first to tell you that those social networking sites are simply not enough. In the “bigger” picture, they count for squat.

One need only look to household name comedians like Dane Cook or Jeff Dunham to understand why these performers carry so much weight in the entertainment game. Read more »

Proof: Audience Seating Is A HUGE Factor In Stand-up Comedy Shows

I have written before about the importance of audience seating when it comes to laughter generation in a stand-up comedy show.

Well, now I have visible proof of just how critical it really is.

I want you to take a look at this YouTube video of Killer Stand-up comedian Khulani Malone and please note not only the laughter levels he attained, but also know that there were only twenty audience members in the room (plus 10 other comedians): Read more »

Want To Do “Edgy” Comedy Material Exceptionally Well? Study Comedian Carlos Mencia

If performing truly “edgy” stand-up comedy is your goal, I can only highly recommend that you carefully study comedian Carlos Mencia — specifically his comedy special called No Strings Attached.

I just reviewed that particular Carlos Mencia performance in its entirety and I have to say that it was not only hilarious, but also one of the best presentations of “edgy” stand-up comedy material that I have ever seen.

So, pay close attention. I’m going to cover what “edgy” or “cutting edge” material really is and specifically what to look for in Carlos Mencia’s No Strings Attached DVD as you study this master of expressing the brutal, non-politically correct truth in a very funny way. Read more »

Comedy Timing: How Do You Get It?

comedic-timingThere are a lot of new comedians and speaking professionals who want to know how to develop comedy timing. Let me say this…

Your comedy “timing” improves in direct relation to your comfort on stage AND your ability to capture your own natural comedy timing.

That’s right — everyone has a natural sense of comedy timing and are unaware of it. Let me show you what I mean…

What You Need To Know About Comedy Competitions

For those wanting to know how to become a comedian on a new level, I want to talk about comedy competitions and comedy talent shows.

Sometime, somewhere you are probably going to compete in a comedy competition or comedy talent show (or at least consider it).

Let me just say beyond the very first comedy competition I was in (which I won), my experience with comedy competitions has not been that favorable.

The main reasons comedy competitions weren’t usually favorable was because of my own lack of knowledge about how many comedy competitions REALLY work and my own unrealistic expectations. Read more »

Working In The Corporate Comedy Market

Are you a clean comedian looking to break into corporate comedy work? Well, there isn’t near as much competition as in the comedy club market and the pay can literally dwarf any comedy club income.

There are a number of very good reasons why there is so little competition in the corporate marketplace when it comes to corporate comedians.

The #1 reason is because there are so few clean comedians that can actually deliver funny comedy that is APPROPRIATE for the corporate market.  You also have to realize that most comedians don’t even begin to look at the corporate market until they are well into their careers. Most are looking for the glamor, fame and fortune of movies and TV.

Corporate work simply does not have the “glamor” factor. It only has the “make money and have fun” factor.

A lot of local corporate comedy work is handled by talent agencies in your local area. Here’s what you need to know about local talent agencies… Read more »
