Building Your Own Online Fan Base
It should go without saying that one of the most valuable assets that ANY entertainer can have is a solid fan base—folks who want to know who you are, what you have to say and know where your next performance or adventure will be.
Let me save some folks some time—if you don’t have an act and you aren’t actively performing or pursuing your entertainment dreams, then the rest of this article won’t offer much value for you.
But if you DO have an act, you ARE actively performing and you DO want to develop your own online fan club or expand your fan base, please pay close attention…
Let’s get right down to business.
In my opinion, establishing and growing an online fan base is essential to the ultimate success of EVERY comedian, entertainer or speaking professional today. Not only that, it’s pretty darn easy to do.
Having a growing and responsive fan base can give you serious clout in every single aspect of your entertainment career.
If I have your undivided attention, let me share some things that you may want to seriously consider when it comes to establishing and growing and online fan club or subscriber base.
Here are some things that you may want to seriously consider NOW:

Here’s my personal opinion:
If you are a real entertainer—no matter what level you are at—and you are not using the Internet to develop your online fan base, you are really missing the boat.
But if you ARE a real entertainer, here’s my proposal to you:
I want to show you how to build and grow your own online fan base. I want to show you how to easily set it up from the bottom up (whether you already have a website or not).
I have just launched a new blog at http://realfirststeps.com to show basically anyone how to build a fan club or an online business using a WordPress blog.
But I have to warn you now…
What I have to share on that blog is about online marketing—online marketing that is specific to your entertainment career and establishing your online fan base. This is about selling YOU and your credibility to your fans.
So, if you are into that whole “starving artist” thing, I can’t help you. I’m into helping entertainers and speaking pros that want to make money. End of story.
So, here’s the deal:
If what I have presented in this article so far appeals to you, put a comment in the comment box below to let me know that you want more info or go to http://realfirststeps.com and sign-up for that blog.
How about that?
Let’s see just exactly how many “real players” I have reading my blog.

P.S. If you know any other entertainment artists or speaking pros, you might want to send them the link to this blog post—the same info I have for comedians is valid with ALL entertainment or speaking specialties.
P.S.S. I want folks to know straight up that I am not just here for the “newbies” trying to figure out how not to wet themselves before they hit the stage. I want to help “grow” some talented comedians who have paid their dues and want more.

Hi Steve,
I am a newbie , but I intend to fast track myself. ” Doesn’t everyone” LOL
I really would need to get any insight into moving the number of hits on my soon to be up Web Site. Ideas as to recruiting fans, like sign up sheets, etc. would be very benefical.
If folks don’t go for this, then shame on them and guess they are just wanting to be an Open Mic Professional! LOL,LOL,LOL
Hi Steve,

I know it would be great to learn ways to increase hits on my soon to be up website.
Anyone who is interested in performing at any level needs a fan base . For anyone to not want to take advantage of the interent tells me they want to be a Professional Open Mic performer and not a ” “PROFORMER” My new word you can use it if you like! LOL

Hey Steve,
In this time of (supposed) Global Economic Crisis, people are holding back. Yet a motivational speaker I had coffee with yesterday told me that this is the time to consolodate and build your business ready so that when the rise begins again (as it always does in the 7 or so year cycle) you are right there in front ready to ride the wave as it goes. This is exactly the sort of thing we can do NOW so that not only can we prove that we can grow our businesses in an economic downturn, but that so we are ready for that wave.
You know, Steve, this is the sort of thing that makes you a legend in our books yet public enemy number one to the detractors and pretenders out there! They can complain all they like but Steve, you keep the goods coming and it builds every time. Bring it on, Steve – there seems to be a busfull of us ready for this…

I want to personally thank everyone for their comments!
It is your input that motivates me to move forward.
