More YouTube Secrets For Comedians
I know that there are a number of comedians who want to know the secrets for developing celebrity impressions for their stand-up comedy act.
The process for developing celebrity impressions is not difficult; it primarily involves listening to the voice of the celebrity over and over again, repeating the lines until you are able to mimic the celebrity voice.
Well, there is an easy way to develop celebrity impressions using YouTube. Let me explain…
I have a couple of celebrity impressions that I have learned to do—John Wayne, Sean Connery, and Bill Clinton just to name a few. The way I did it back in the day was a bit cumbersome to say the least…
First I would rent a movie that featured the celebrity. I would record parts of that movie that featured the celebrity talking.
Next, I would make sure that I had 5 or 6 good lines recorded and then I would transfer that recording onto a cassette tape (I told you back in the day).
Then, I would listen to each line over and over again, trying to reproduce the voice inflection and tone qualities of the recorded celebrity.
Needless to say, it was a real pain just to get a decent recording to start with.
That’s not the case anymore. Let me show you how I would use YouTube to get the recording of the celebrity voice you are trying to mimic…

Don’t get me wrong. You DO want to watch videos of a celebrities (if available) in order to mimic facial expressions and body language.
But that is a heck of a lot easier if you are able to get the celebrity voice down FIRST, just by simply listening and attempting to copy spoken lines as you hear them.
I should also tell you this…
It can take some time to get a celebrity voice down pat. You have to work at it and for some people—it’s more work than for others. That’s the case with me.
But I believe that comedians should be squeezing every bit of value that they can out of YouTube and other resources for stand-up comedy act development that weren’t available just a few years ago.
If you can shave some time off what it takes to learn a celebrity impression with the information provided above, then I would say this article did its job, wouldn’t you?
Now, get ready for the big show!
