The most important thing that EVERYONE reading this blog should be doing is…

Performing all or parts of your stand-up comedy act at every single opportunity you can get your hands on.

For those new to stand-up comedy, your ability to develop a killer act quickly is directly related to the number of performances you can accumulate AND your ability to make intelligent “adjustments” to your stand-up comedy act for maximum laughter response in the process.

For those who have been performing for awhile and have a quantity of comedy material that works well already…

You should consider performing 5-7 minute “sample” shows for corporate type audiences that could turn into potential buyers of your “full” show and handing out your business card like it is candy.

Let me make it clear that you don’t have to develop your comedy act in a comedy club.

If you are working clean…

Then you can perform your material for virtually ANY audience.

Don’t get me wrong — you can certainly use comedy club open mics if they are available.

But I wouldn’t depend on them solely for act development.

Why?

And you may have heard me say this before…

In the corporate type markets, you can absolutely use carefully selected, clean and edited street jokes to augment your act.

This way, you can squeeze your new comedy material in between street jokes that you know work to provide you a “safe zone” when you are first performing.

But more importantly…

Can you get in front of at least 5 different audiences each month? If I had to identify the single most important factor for developing a tight, killer stand-up comedy act, this would be it.
