I have no magic pill that you can take and you will magically kill the audience your first time out on stage.

But what I can tell you is this…

I would also add this…

You simply cannot over prepare for a comedy open mic. You need to be rehearsed and polished, just as if you had performed your act 100 times before.

You need to have confidence in your stand-up comedy material, no matter what audience demographic you are performing for.

Never perform for the other comedians in the room. Always perform for the audience.

And if you really want to stand out like a sore thumb on comedy open mic night…

Get big laughs with clean comedy material. You’ll get more offers for work that way—right from the beginning of your comedy career.
