If you want to take a truly professional approach to becoming a comedian…

The video camera is your BEST friend. And video cameras have gotten so inexpensive that they are within the reach of most people.

Given that, I’m about to show anyone who thinks they are funny a very easy way to tell if they’ve got what it takes to continue on in their stand-up comedy adventures. And it involves using an inexpensive video camera and a camera tripod.

Don’t get ahead of me because I’m going to go step-by-step through a process you can use to find your stage voice, develop your rehearsal skills and hone your stand-up before you ever even perform at a comedy open mic night.

Here are the ingredients you will need:

1. A video camera and a tripod
2. A microphone and a mic stand (mic doesn’t have to live)
3. A small place to perform in your home or garage
4. Just a few minutes of a stand-up comedy routine to work with

NOTE: There are two Premium Articles available here that I produced which contain original stand-up comedy material you can use to start rehearsing with.

Now here’s the step-by-step procedure you would use:

With this process you manage to accomplish a number of things…

1. It helps to develop your comfort when being recorded on video (this is a big deal).
2. It helps get you comfortable with the microphone and the mic stand. This is key to looking like a pro, right off the bat.
3. It magnifies your rehearsal efforts.
4. It gives you an evaluation platform to try different variations of your comedy material

These are all things you need to be prepared for before you every step on a comedy open mic stage. That is, if you want to excel.

Make no mistake…

This process is the absolute quickest way to develop your stand-up comedy skills and comedy material before an audience ever sees you.

And I should mention that what I have just presented is NOT video material you want to put on YouTube. I’ve seen this before and it can really make you look bad.

Final Thoughts

If you want to move fast in show business, you need to get your act together—literally—as quickly as you can. This is the most efficient way to develop your stand-up comedy skills in the shortest time possible.
