In my humble opinion, I believe that there is a serious problem with stand-up comedy nomenclature and the symbolic association with the terminology used to communicate the activities comedians employ to develop their stand-up comedy material.
Specifically, I am referring to the term “comedy writing”.
I have come to despise term “comedy writing” and try to avoid using it, even though it is thoroughly ingrained in the global psyche of stand-up comedians.

One of the questions that I know many people have on their brain once they have visited my website or will ask me directly is “Does the Killer Stand-up Comedy Systemreally work?”
That’s not a hard question for me to answer. My response to that frequently asked question has been and will always be:

I have said for years that comedians need to be “small audience specialists”. Why?
Usually, comedians must prove their ability in front of smaller audiences before they are given the opportunity to perform for larger audiences.
So, common sense would dictate that comedians should become very skilled at slaying small audiences on a consistent basis. But that’s usually not the case. Here’s what happens…

Bill Engvall was the first headlining comedian I had ever experienced — I was 33 years old at the time. It was at the Improv Comedy Club at the end of 1992 (the comedy club died the next year).
I laughed so hard that night my ribs were sore for two days.
That single event set the level of laughter that I wanted to achieve in my own stand-up comedy career.
