Another Valuable Online Resource For Comedians
For those of you who have really gotten into this blog, you will notice that one of the frequent commenters is comedian Shayne Michael.
Shayne has been in the entertainment business a long time and we have a tendency to share many common views about the art and business of stand-up comedy.
I have known Shayne for a number of years through his various websites. His latest website Shayne-Michael.com is a valuable and credible resource that comedians should take a look at.
There’s a TON of information for comedians on Shayne-Michael.com, so I will highlight just a few of the features there:
1. There is an open mic database (US). You can bring up any state by looking for a red link upper left hand corner that says USA MAP. Registered members can change the default state for the open mics they are looking for.
2. There is a list of comedy festivals available.
3. There are over 100 articles for comedians there. I always advocate that comedians learn as much about the business of comedy from a variety of quality resources provided by those who have actually worked in the business of stand-up comedy.
4. Sometimes the best way to succeed is to know who came before you. There are over 200 bios of popular and famous comedians available for your review on Shayne-Michael.com. You can screen them by comic actor vs stand-up comic.
5. There’s still more with online functions to build flyers, add your bio or website link, and a registration benefit of being able to upload your comedy material for peer review and feedback.
As you are probably aware, I don’t directly recommend too many websites related to stand-up comedy. But I would certainly recommend Shayne-Michael.com.
