  1. Timing is my biggest fear. Sometimes< I memorize a set, and run through it too fast because I trying so hard to make sure I say the joke correctly. This leads me to tense up and make a mistake. I need the true feel of a crowd to be able to practice my pace and timing. So much more goes into a successful routine than just "GOOD MATERIAL."

  2. There is no way to become a great entertainer if you don’t have some sort of persona and stage presence. People can tell a fake. Kind of like how everyone believes Tim Tebow is genuine because he always carries himself the same way he speaks. If I were to go around quoting Tim Tebow word for word like it was me who wrote it, the wheels would fall off almost immediately because people would see I just talk the talk. I could write a speech for Tebow though, and even though they would be my words, they would be “Tim’s” style, so everyone would assume and believe the words were his. It’s a non-comedy example, but one I think clearly expresses your opinion. (which is 99.9% fact, if not 100%)

  3. Expressions and body movements are fundamental keys to comedy, especially if you’re going to do any dialogue between characters. You can’t just deadpan both characters. You have to show at least a subtle difference between the two or the audience wont know which is which or who was what. I thought the second guy had a few good jokes, but as you cleverly pointed out, he doesn’t get full benefit because he doesn’t give any type of visual clues. He told the jokes like he was recording an album without an audience. He needs to study the Regan video guy some more.
